Ninebot Segway S-Pod – remember the name, because it could become the first of a new innovation in electric mobility, or it could be doomed to be a folly much in the way that Sinclair C5 was.
But what is it? Well it’s only just been unveiled at the CES annual convention in Las Vegas, so we don’t have much details yet, but its basically an egg shaped portable, electric vehicle very similar to those seen in Jurassic Park.
This is, based on the specs we know, more than just a novelty toy though – capable of speeds of upto 24mph and reaching a range of 43 miles on a single charge, the S Pod is a proper vehicle offering a proper solution for electric mobility.
To operate it, there is a control panel that lets you set your direction and speed. Segway have announced : ““S-Pod uses an adaptive center-of-gravity automatic control system to enable the passenger to easily adjust the speed by handling the knob to change the center of gravity in the pod.”
Sounds impressive doesn’t it?
At the same time Ninebot Segway have also released news of a new electric scooter they’re unveiling at CES – the Air T15, as well as giving more of an official reveal to the T60. We’ll keep you posted.
